What is a Medical Biller and Coder?
Medical Billing and Coding is the bridge between healthcare providers and insurance providers. Billers and Coders help manage invoices through tracking claims and payments.
Technically, it is two different jobs (which leads to more opportunity), but oftentimes the positions are combined within institutions. It’s important to know the difference.
In our Online Medical Coding Specialist school you will learn how to take a physician or healthcare provider's notes and translate them into a specific digestible code for insurance providers. During this medical coding academy portion you will learn:
- Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)
- Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS)
- International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10)
On the other hand, in the Online Medical Billing Specialist school portion of your program, you will learn about health insurance and reimbursement and the legal and ethical formalities surrounding it. During this medical billing academy portion you will learn how to:
